The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Its core functions encompass the protection and surveillance of national airspace, territorial waters, the prevention and response to terrorism and the overall direction of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force.

The MoD further engages with regional and international partners to strengthen security partnerships, while advancing training and educational programmes that foster leadership, discipline and national resilience.
